My name is Michele Humlan and I am the chef/owner of The Good Eats Company personal chef service in Richmond, VA. A love of creating and sharing food evolved into cooking for sustenance, recreation and entertaining throughout my formative years and during my first career as a pediatrician.
Taking my love of cooking to the next level, I attended and graduated with top honors in 2000 from L’Academie de Cuisine in metropolitan Washington, DC, earning an advanced culinary degree complemented by an internship with Chef Ris Lacoste of 1789 Restaurant in Georgetown. Under Chef Lacoste’s guidance, I learned to craft meals catering to the customer’s wishes for their own unique dining experience.
I moved back to my hometown of Richmond, Virginia to be near family and settled in an old house with a great garden where I grow over 25 herbs and compost to enrich the soil.
I launched The Good Eats Company in 2001. I am dedicated to working personally with my clients and getting to know their tastes and dietary needs. My medical background allows me to help clients make sound dietary choices as they navigate different food pathways. Cooking is my business and it is also my favorite recreational activity. I am fortunate to cook for and with a host of delightful neighbors and friends who serve as helpful recipe tasters. My inspiration has always been Julia Child, who believed as I do that all good foods may be enjoyed in moderation.
Although I have had no professional photography training, it has been great fun learning to photograph foods and beverages.. All published recipes on the blog contain my photographs, so bear with me as I learn how to make the food look as good as it tastes. Sign up to get recipes sent by email and make your own Good Eats!
